Dr Brian Meacham is Managing Principal at Meacham Associates. He develops risk-informed performance-based solutions to complex building and infrastructure challenges, provides peer-review services, conducts building and fire regulatory system studies, and undertakes research. He has undertaken work for governments, NGOs and corporations in numerous countries. Brian has authored more than 280 publications, given more than 300 presentations and has been awarded more than $3.5M in research funding. His prior positions include Associate Professor at Worcester Polytechnic Institute, Principal at Arup, Technical Director and Research Director at to Society of Fire Protection Engineers (SFPE), and fire safety engineer in Europe and the USA. Brian is Immediate Past President of the SFPE, Secretary of the International Association for Fire Safety Science, Chair of the NFPA Technical Committee on Fire Risk Assessment Methods, and member of the US TAG to ISO TC92 SC4 – Fire Safety Engineering.

Dr Dorin Beu is the President of the Romania Green Building Council Transylvania Chapter and former President the Romania Green Building Council (RoGBC) from 2016-2019. He is a Member of the Core Group COST RESTORE CA 16114 as well as of the Romanian European Energy Award project, implemented since 2016 by RoGBC, in charge of H2020 CoME Easy programme. He is also the co-chief Editor of the International Journal of Sustainable Lighting ( He represents the RoGBC a non-profit, non-political association of businesses and other organizations which promotes systemic transformation and business success in the construction and real estate industries through greater environmental responsibility and green building performance. RoGBC was a key research partner in successful European Horizon 2020 and Intelligent Energy Europe projects such as, and BUILD UPON, aiming to improve the design and implementation of Member States’ National Renovation Strategies.


The Sustainable Buildings Advisory Panel is a high-level group that allows you to work towards a truly sustainable future by reframing the debate on buildings’ sustainability through the insertion of a fire resilience dimension. Its aim is on several fronts:
– Raising awareness of the fact that fire resilience is an intricate part of sustainability;
– Monitoring the evolution of the EU Green Deal and regulation and legislation on buildings;
– Exchanging with sustainable buildings experts to identify potential best practices, ideas or challenges to factor fire resilience in sustainable buildings.
