Fire Safe Europe’s position on the review of the Energy Performance of Buildings Directive – EPBD (2010/31/EU)

The EPBD has been an important driver in the EU’s efforts to modernise European buildings. It has put in place important policies such as requirements for new buildings to be nearly zero energy (NZEB) level by 2020, increasing awareness of energy performance of buildings through the introduction of Energy Performance Certificates (EPCs) and initiating efforts to increase renovation by putting in place minimum requirements for when a major renovation takes place. That said, given the current imperative to save energy, and in view of the huge potential for energy efficiency gains in existing buildings, the EPBD needs an urgent revision.

Through its position, Fire Safe Europe would like to draw the attention of the European Commission on several recommendations.

Download FSEU’s position paper to discover what are these recommendations to revise the EPBD.
